As a local Montreal-based furniture producer, we constantly seek ways to recycle and reuse our by-products. Over the years, we have developed unique, eco-friendly partnerships with local woodworking workshops and organizations whereby we donate our offcuts for use in smaller projects and presentations. In 2022, we created The Offcuts Collection, a series of small-batch furniture designed and built in collaboration with Raphaël Dinh – the multifunctional pieces are made in limited series using walnut, white oak, and maple offcuts we have on hand. The collection includes La Souche, Le Tabouret à lattes and Le Marchepied à lattes.
Reminiscent of and inspired by towering tree trunks, La Souche is a modern and functional take on the tree’s original form. The cylindrical shape is built using two techniques: cutting board-style glue-ups and a faceted version. The rounded base adds a sense of overall lightness.
Le Marchepied à lattes is a beautiful step stool with slatted layers that function as practical steps or a handy seat. The sturdy piece is built using solid wood offcuts, in American black walnut and white oak.
Le Tabouret à lattes is a multifunctional piece that adapts easily throughout the home. The slatted stool can be used as a functional seat or practical side table.
