ADAPTING TO THE LAND
The first thing that strikes us on site is that the land is a rough diamond. It is very steep and there’s this cliff on the south side with a splendid view overlooking the mountain. A rocky plateau is miraculously available on which to place the house. We’ll be working with this plateau to shape the house.
THE FLOATING FEEL
The customer was desperate to have the impression of floating above nature and feeling the emptiness beneath his feet in his living area. This was a good idea, especially as the rocky plateau dictated that the house should be narrow but long. This length will allow us to create an immense overhang.
EMPHASIS ON DETAILS
The character of the house lies in its very simple yet precise volumetry, in alignment with the interior design. The emphasis is on cantilevered elements and roof overhangs. The cladding is in graying wood. We plan for it to disappear into the forest in a few years.
