Set on 200-waterfront-acres, The Boca Raton is one of the premiere resort destinations and private clubs in the United States. Founded in 1926 as the Ritz-Carlton Cloister Inn, the resort was originally built by Boca Raton’s city planner and architect Addison Mizner. In the 1930s and then 1960s, the resort was expanded and is now one of the largest hotels in South Florida with over 900 keys. In honor of its 100th anniversary, Rockwell Group was asked to redesign many of the public spaces, including several new signature restaurants by Major Food Group, and the guest rooms.
The Boca Raton has been added on to and renovated in a piecemeal fashion over the decades, and Rockwell Group was inspired to rethink the amenity spaces and guest rooms for cohesion and luxury, embracing Mizner’s Mediterranean Revival and Spanish Colonial design ideals, enhancing views out to “Lake Boca,” and returning the property to its “Golden Age.” Our design team highlighted historic features and added warmth and modern luxury with rich textures, wood, stone, and glass. We embraced the Floridian indoor-outdoor connection and celebrate its flora and fauna in the FF&E. Each space has its own essence, but subtle, connecting threads tie back to story of the property’s origins.
