Suite EWOW 1001, W Montréal
GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 12th edition
A Sid Lee Architecture project, W Montreal’s EWOW 1001 Suite showcases Montreal’s avant-garde vibe throughout its history.
The dining and bar set-ups are inspired by Habitat 67’s deconstructed shapes, while the dense geometric suspended light that reigns above the bed is reminiscent of the biosphere. The Villa-Maria metro station can be seen in the choice of the central carpet and library furniture. For final touches, throw pillows pay tribute to the city’s history of fur trading while selected art pieces reflect the eclecticism of local artistic movements throughout time.
The modular suite received a Jury Mention for its original integration of city artefacts, judicious contrasting of materials and effective use of colour.
