Located in the heart of the St-Roch district in Old Quebec for over 10 years, the Best Western has undertaken a major renovation to rethink its hotel concept in response to evolving customer expectations and market trends. The project aimed to revitalize the common areas, including the lobby, lounges, and reception area, while addressing several challenges, such as integrating a modern and luminous aesthetic despite constraints related to the existing building structure, notably a low ceiling. To achieve this, ingenious solutions were adopted, such as using stretched canvases to evenly diffuse light and integrating wooden screens crafted by local artisans. The choice of materials focused on durable and elegant options, such as stain-resistant fabrics and ceramic coatings, while adhering to environmental standards with eco-friendly finishes.
The result is a welcoming, refined space, where customers can now benefit from contactless check-in thanks to dedicated stations, a first for the banner in Quebec. The new independent bistro, NouVo, contributes to the district’s lively ambience, with its central bar adorned with quartz countertops and its warm atmosphere accentuated by the use of a smoked mirror wall to diffuse light. The renovation thus marks a new chapter in the establishment’s history, affirming its status as a jewel in the heart of the neighborhood thanks to an innovative, environmentally-friendly approach that is perfectly integrated into local life.
