SoundBite Medical Solutions is a company specializing in advanced medical devices for calcified artery disease treatment.
Chronic total occlusion (CTO) of peripheral arteries is an increasingly common condition, especially in older patients. It can be associated with severe health issues such as myocardial infarction, stroke, or limb loss. In some cases, it can even be fatal.
The company mandated CLEIO to design and engineer the latest commercial version of its console, which employs the CTO crossing technique. This technique involves inserting a catheter into the patient’s artery to break up the calcified plaque with shockwave energy generated by the console.
In redesigning the console, the goal was to achieve a balance among aesthetics, medical experts’ concerns, the regulatory environment, and the numerous electromechanical constraints.
The device was designed to integrate seamlessly with its usage environment and align with predominant market aesthetic trends, thereby facilitating adoption by various stakeholders in the medical field.
