Sintra, a major player in the construction industry, wanted to offer its teams a modern working environment with brand new 17,000 square foot offices in Brossard. The company aspired to evolve in a welcoming environment conducive to collaboration, banking on the well-being of its teams.
To bring this vision to life, integrated design firm A+, in collaboration with DESK architects, created a stimulating space, emphasizing warmth and light. The meticulous choice of materials such as wood, polished concrete, carpet and glass, as well as the color palette of black, white and shades of pale wood, were carefully selected to create a bright, modern and soothing atmosphere.
The cafeteria area, bathed in natural light, offers a variety of ambiances to meet employees’ diverse needs. The seating area evokes the intimacy of a cosy restaurant, while the kitchen with its large island encourages informal interaction. High tables allow for individual or group work sessions, and an area equipped with chairs offers total flexibility. Vertical ceiling slats add a touch of elegance and sound absorption. Finally, the cafeteria area is popular for gatherings and collaborative work sessions.
A major constraint was to retain the existing ceiling composed of suspended acoustic tiles. Nevertheless, the designers succeeded in integrating stylish lighting fixtures that perfectly harmonize with the overall design. Integrating the customer’s existing furniture also required creative thinking to ensure its harmony with the new design.
Collaborative meeting spaces, modular conference rooms, glass offices and phone booths are included in the layout to encourage interaction, but also moments of concentration and team productivity.
In the main corridor, built-in bench seating transforms the space into a dynamic place rather than simply a prolonged waiting room. This innovative design highlights the need to rethink office spaces to take account of visitors and their interactions. The benches not only serve as seating, but become informal meeting points where staff can exchange ideas, discuss projects or simply relax.
The presence of wooden screens creates a screen of intimacy between the open area, housing the workstations, and the closed executive offices, allowing a subtle separation while promoting the circulation of light and air. Incorporating oblique slats and a library section, this layout encourages the exchange of knowledge and personal development. This configuration aims to create a degree of intimacy while preserving an open, welcoming atmosphere. Between these desks and the claustras, a small relaxation area is set up to allow employees to recharge their batteries between tasks.
The integration of biophilia, through planters, contributes to creating a verdant workplace conducive to employee well-being.
In summary, Sintra’s new offices now reflect a modern vision offering a workspace tailored to the needs and aspirations of its teams.
