The Siberia Crane Symbiosis Museum of Nanchang is located on the picturesque shores of Poyang Lake, renowned as the “World Wetland and Migratory Bird Kingdom.” This exhibition hall perfectly complements the inaugural Poyang Lake Bird Watching Week in Jiangxi Province. It has transformed the Nanchang Five Star Reclamation Farm in Poyang Lake into a captivating tourist destination known as Siberian Crane Town, offering the closest observation point to white cranes worldwide. By renovating buildings, residences, and grain warehouses that were once used by educated youth during rural assignments in northern Jiangxi, Siberian Crane Town now offers a comprehensive year-round tourism experience, catering to diverse interests such as family tours, science and education research tours, and internet celebrity check-in tours. At the heart of this tourist destination lies the Siberian Crane Symbiosis Museum.
The design of the Siberian Crane Symbiosis Museum draws inspiration from the elegant and amphibious white cranes, capturing the different postures of Siberian cranes during rest and activity. The museum’s exterior facade is shaped by overlaying the outline of the crane’s belly and the form of standing quadrupeds. The arc following the crane’s back intersects with the ground, forming a perfect circle that symbolizes the concept of harmonious coexistence and symbiosis between humans and Siberian cranes in our shared home, Earth. It serves as a call to people to pay attention to nature and care for the environment.
This unique design not only showcases the ecological characteristics of Siberian cranes but also aligns with the thematic consensus of the symbiotic museum, creating an extraordinary architectural atmosphere. Departing from the conventional use of color splashing techniques in scenic areas, the design adopts modern line depiction, while the distinctive circular air windows complement the gray walls of local Gannan residential buildings. The main visual incorporates a simplified crane and a location map, excelling in brand promotion, cultural products, events, and exhibitions, all aimed at promoting harmonious coexistence.
Within the exhibition space, renewable white film is utilized to simulate the layered wings of Siberian cranes, creating a spatial relationship that showcases a profound understanding and perception of the white cranes’ living space in the exhibition hall.
The construction and design of the image exhibition hall of the Siberian Crane Symbiosis Hall in Poyang Lake, Nanchang, not only infuse new vitality into local tourism development but also provide a platform for people to understand and protect Siberian cranes. By showcasing the beautiful symbiotic relationship between Siberian cranes and humans, this building and exhibition hall convey crucial information to inspire people to cherish and protect the natural environment, promoting harmonious development between humanity and nature.
