Salle d’exposition Trium

GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 7th édition

Inspired by its hometown, Montreal, the Trium Exhibition Hall ’s new concept exploits metropolitan contrasts, by playing on the opposition between the building’s urbanity and the rural feeling of its environment. The challenge encountered by Lemay’s team was to consolidate a multitude of varying functions over two floors; such as the exhibit space, the conferences rooms, the lounging areas, the offices, the loading docks, the storage and shipping rooms, the classes and the public areas. The concept was executed in this immense industrial space on the banks of the Lachine Canal; both functional and warm, the concept revolves around conviviality, which is symbolized by the lobby welcoming visitors.

The jury was impressed by the concept, which managed to adapt the huge space to a true human scale, with multiple heights and the creation of a large polished steel box that passes through the building’s structure, and builds a bridge between the outside, the exhibit room and the warehouse. The jury also emphasized the dynamism of the exhibition hall and the design of the rooms, sometimes opened, sometimes closed, making the workspace highly functional, thus faithful to the spirit of Trium. This project conquered the jury and won this year’s Exhibition Space Award.
