GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 16th edition

Discipline : Product

Categories : Product Design in Small Series & Hand-Made / Residential, Commercial & Built-In Furniture : Gold Certification

The SAFRAN collection is a tribute to the know-how of traditional maritime carpentry and more particularly to the piece of the same name that allows boats to modify their trajectory. An essential and massive piece whose fluid and subtle curves give it a poetic elegance, that of being able to deflect the waves with power and softness.

It is from this choreography of resistance that the design of this line of residential furniture is inspired, with its massive yet delicate and sensual forms.
Made in Montreal entirely of Douglas fir, the collection includes a coffee table, a bench and a stool that can also be used as a side table. The distinctive grain of Douglas fir and the saffron color of this wood species bring a touch of warm elegance that contrasts with the bright royal blue of the linoleum pieces covering the underside of the base.
A brushed and oxidized finish is also available. This natural finishing technique gives the wood a mineral and textured look that transports the geometry of the ensemble into a rich and dramatic world.

The SAFRAN collection is the sum of a game of balance and accuracy between delicate lines, simplicity of form and complexity of fabrication.
