GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 12th edition
Over a half-century old, this cottage is undergoing a major facelift. It is the object of an elegant renovation that, while sensitive to the original architecture, represents an open and modern intervention. The external wall of the kitchen and dining room is now almost entirely open onto the landscape, thanks to abundant fenestration. The interior is defined by a harmonious contrasting of light and dark surfaces, among them pale oak cabinets and black granite countertops. The floor, redone in ceramic tiles, helps set off the wall made from stones cleared from the original landscape, which gently rounds out the space.
The materials that reference nature and their integration into the architecture seduced the jury. The stone wall creates a contrast with the other, “softer” materials. However, the spaces penetrate one another to form a truly fluid interior arrangement, in which the kitchen is right where it belongs and is an integral part of the space. A success from all standpoints,
