GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 16th edition

Discipline : Interior Design

Categories : Residence / Residential Space ≤ 1,600 sq. ft. (≤ 150 sq.m.) : Silver Certification

Second home project in the old port of Montreal.

For this project the client wanted to have the feeling of being in a hotel suite when visiting Montreal.

We reworked the master bedroom and bathroom as well as the dining room.

In the dining room we created a decorative wine wall to showcase the client’s bottle collection. The cellar was made with burnt wood, Japanese technique Shou sugi ban. It brings to this space a masculine side with texture. We also added directional lighting at the top to emphasize the bottles during dinner and backlighting under the buffet to have a mood light.

For the master bedroom, we really wanted to create a space that was both luxurious and warm. A coffee corner was created. All the cabinetry, including the wall behind the bed and the coffee nook are connected to keep a harmony in both color and materials. The materials were chosen with care. Smoked glass, lightly textured backsplash etc. The lighting also occupies an important place in this room. We can come and play with it and choose the desired ambiance (backlighting on the sides of the mirrors, backlighting on the top and bottom of the headboard, etc.)

In the master bathroom, we created a huge double steam shower. Again, we play with the textures and pattern of the ceramic. We stay in a sober, elegant and timeless atmosphere. The mirrors and the rounded alcove break the linear aspect of the space. We played a lot on the light in this space also with LED ribbon under the shelves and in the shower alcove.
