GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 16th edition

Discipline : Interior Design

Categories : Accommodation, Restaurant & Bar / Restaurant > 1,600 sq.ft. (> 500 sq. m.) : Silver Certification

Major Food Group’s signature, fine dining restaurant at The Boca Raton transports guests to lakeside dining on the shores of a northern Italian villa, bringing forth elegance, grandeur, and modern touches. Rockwell Group celebrated the historic timber ceiling beams and floor-to-ceiling arched windows and added a luxurious material palette with cherry wood, brass accents, and rich jewel tones in hues of greens and deep reds. The dining room spills out onto an outdoor dining terrace and bar, adjacent to the Palm Court patio, offering uninterrupted views of Lake Boca.

A room bathed in a sage semi-gloss paint marks the entry to the restaurant. Guests are greeted by a custom cast glass chandelier and a two-toned lacquer host stand. Warm cherry wood paneling and uplit ivory plaster walls add a soft glow in the main dining room, which has a three-toned geometric floor. Channel-tufted burgundy leather banquettes anchor the main dining space and a decanting station on one wall brings a sense of theatricality to diners. Custom furnishings, including hand-hewn cherry wood dining chairs and dining tables with scalloped wood bases and marble accents, are reminiscent of an Italian manor. Hand-blown Italian glass chandeliers, handcrafted by Venini, add an elegant, yet dramatic glow. Ribbed glass sconces and antique mirrors lined with brass reflect the lakeside views. A large-scale custom tapestry by artist Tamsen Hall, a focal point of the space developed in collaboration with Rockwell Group and Saatchi Art, adds a playful twist on classic Roman paintings.

A custom 8-foot-long cherry wood dining table, with intimate love seat-style chairs on both ends, can host up to 16 guests. The room features two rectangular Venini glass chandeliers made of Murano glass and a tropical wallcovering.  Black and white lifestyle photographs with gilded frames surround the space. Modern, ripple fold floor to ceiling shear drapery frame the waterfront view.

The outdoor dining terrace and bar has been raised to create a seamless indoor-outdoor connection, offering better views of Lake Boca. A sage green pergola, and vintage-inspired cast-iron furnishings and valence-style umbrellas, further emphasize the Italian lakeside dining experience.
