Parc de Taishan highlights the friendship pact signed between the city of the same name in China and the LaSalle borough in Montréal. Its layout celebrates the encounter of individuals from all walks of life and all ages.
This unique park marks the strong presence and evolution of the Chinese community within the neighborhood. At its entrance, a monument designed by Projet Paysage is adorned with calligraphy by Ngan Siu-Mui, a Montréal artist of Taishanese origin. The amenities have been intended to serve both young and old while enhancing urban biodiversity. In addition to a water splash pad, wooden play modules cater to the needs of two different age groups, toddlers aged 18 months to 5 years and children aged 5 to 12 years. Their configuration allows for interpretation and calls for agility, reinforcing their confidence. Children find plenty of fun while adults enjoy pleasant urban furniture that complements the greening of the area. Designed as a sponge park, the space is bordered by a dry riverbed that absorbs excess water from heavy rains. Serving as a gathering place for a large community, the park energizes the neighborhood and promotes the integration of green initiatives into this residential development.
