Located on the first floor of Strøm spa nordique headquarters, Nord Laboratoire culinaire is a place for gastronomic creation and discovery open to the public.
A refined and convivial space
Seating 35, the space can accommodate small groups as well as larger ones. Round and square tables, chairs and benches take turns to offer guests sometimes a convivial group experience, sometimes a more intimate moment. The open-plan room allows you to enjoy the inviting ambience of the venue, wherever you sit.
The counter-bar, meanwhile, is particularly popular for a tête-à-tête meal or to enjoy an aperitif with friends. From inside the bar, employees have an all-round view of the room, enabling them to remain responsive and on the lookout for customer needs.
In summer, a furnished terrace can accommodate an additional 36 guests, who can enjoy their meal while taking in a magnificent view of the Chambly Basin.
Design with an emphasis on materials
Inspired by Nordicity, the design is simple, functional and sought-after. Colors, materials and textures are organic, reminiscent of the earth and terroir, of their raw, natural, noble, almost masculine edge.
From the very entrance, a warm, hushed atmosphere is felt thanks to the richness of the materials used. The original wood covering the floors as well as some walls has been preserved to pay homage to the history of the place and preserve its cachet. Existing columns and beams have also been carefully restored. Enhancing the existing will set the tone for the design. In what has been added, natural stone, ceramics, metal and colorful fabrics have been chosen for their richness, some recalling the naturalness of wood, others, breaking with its warmth to bring a more modern touch.
Always in keeping with naturalness, one of the focal points of the Nord Laboratoire culinaire layout is the dried flower artwork suspended above the back bench. This is echoed by other dried flowers arranged in small vases on the surrounding tables. A contrasting faux lime finish, applied to the main wall, and pottery and amber glass vases complete the ensemble.
The bathroom adjacent to the restaurant has also been designed in the same spirit. Stone, wood and metal have been put to good use here, creating an experience consistent with that in the dining room.
The right lighting
The decorative lighting fixtures are all from Quebec designers. Refined and well-designed, they have been selected in colors that match the rest of the chosen color palette. Natural light, meanwhile, streams in through the many windows, highlighting different elements of the décor as the day progresses.
In summary
All these elements result in a space where delicacy and robustness rub shoulders, uniting with strength and elegance. The design skilfully supports the culinary offering, so that diners feel a harmony between space and experience.
