Categories : Commercial Space / Commercial Space > 5,400 sq.ft. (> 500 sq.m.) : Gold Certification
Located at the intersection of Ruijing Road and Kangshan Road in Zhangzhou, Nest · Art Museum is adjacent to the Ant Museum of contemporary artist Chen Zhiguang. Its original building was an old abandoned factory.
Based on open conditions of the old factory and the location advantage of the adjacent art museum, the design team uses texture and tension of contemporary art to fill the story of the space, positioning the project as an art museum that can meet multiple-use scenarios such as salons, exhibitions, gatherings, etc. In dynamic states of wandering and staying at will, the commercial space is injected with art curation, emotional culture and community connection, resulting in a deeply rooted sensory experience and emotional resonance as well as the connection between "art and life" with space.
In the early stage of renovation, the design team chose to remove most of the floor partitions, leaving only the original structural frame of the building, and used cement texture paint to imitate the rough shell of old concrete brick walls as the space base to carry the new building. The metal ant nest with visual tension of the future world is placed on the top of the renovated old building by the designer, which takes over the first impression of visitors. The burst of dazzling colors brings rebellion and innovation, conveying an atmosphere of imagination and technological sense, allowing visitors to penetrate into the spiritual core of the project gradually.
Public Area
In the space, the public area on the first floor remains an open state, forming a coherent large space. The glass curtain wall maximizes the light into the interior. The frame column dividers fix multiple perspectives, allowing the interior space to extend a rich emotional level under the natural light and shadow. Countless metal ants bow their heads and crawl on the huge ant nest wrapped in sci-fi colors, building a huge sense with small and busy figures, which exudes sustainable vitality. The solemn stainless-steel molds natural and agile life, and the artistic atmosphere of cyber science fiction induces the interesting spark of new spiritual and emotional culture.
Empty Area
The skip-floor empty setting brings a wide field scale, making the building more flexible and transparent as a functional carrier for display and communication. The path leading to the Ant Nest is retreated to the back of the space by the designer who deliberately designs it to circuitous form. Platforms are set up at key points in the process of traveling to create a rhythm of shuttle and stop, allowing viewers to gradually approach the art installation and gain viewing pleasure from multiple perspectives.
Chat Area
Seats, side tables and bar counters enclose several semi-restricted fuzzy spaces to form "small clusters" that can flexibly change the layout, which is able to serve a variety of non-restricted uses. The marketing atmosphere in the space has been hidden and eliminated, which is replaced by art that presents a variety of lifestyles and scenes and creates new links between people.
Design follows function realization; art innovates the realm of experience. Design and art together constitute a new interpretation of space story of "doing at will without overstepping the line", which realizes life marketing through art.
