GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 16th edition

Discipline : Interior Design

Categories : Accommodation, Restaurant & Bar / Restaurant > 1,600 sq.ft. (> 500 sq. m.) : Gold Certification

The project Nanhai Song is located in Shekou, Shenzhen, with Shenzhen Bay in the east, Pearl River Estuary in the west, and Hong Kong across the sea. From its superior location and geographical environment, MOK Design managed to transform the “forms” into “meanings”. By incorporating the shape of nature, MOK Designs builds the meaning of space, creates the interior style with poetic design language, and interprets the authentic and special nature of the space.
The sea has mountains around and is of the same color as the sky. Layers of stones in the front hall outlines the shape of mountains and sea. The two symmetrical table lamps are like lighthouses, emitting an intimate sense of belonging. It shorten the distance between people and allows the poetic sense to quietly flow among the lights.
The museum-like art cloister is full of light and shadows. Artworks with special shapes and textures are revealing the legends of the sea. People aspires and praises the ocean. They also set out and explore it again and again. Though the artworks are quiet, by standing there, they are telling wonderful stories happens on the sea.
Each room is named after allusions. “Yidun”, the first merchant ship in modern China’s shipping industry, was also the first Chinese high-end cruise ship that has the national flag on and was independently operated by China.
The Executive Lounge is centered on the water bar. Layers of textures extend from the ceiling to the wall, creating a sense of sequential aesthetics. The hidden light strips are creating a gentle lighting in the room.
Each private dining room is aligned in terms of spatial composition, while they have different design languages in terms of soft furnishings.
Nanhai Song represents the nature and arts. It has mountains, seas and cultures included. It shares the stories and welcomes dear friends.
The outdoor terrace is like an oasis in the middle of the sky. It’s full of life and brings the hope to the sea voyage. The terrace is staggered, allowing people to see the sea from afar and to enjoy the garden scenery nearby.
Nature is the greatest artist. MOK Design has embedded the beauty of the mountains and sea in Shenzhen in different layers Nanhai Song. The endless waves and continuing mountains, and the glorious sun and moon have composed a poetry of all beings. Oriental design languages has bring a sense of elegance to the space, which allows one to have in-depth thinking and feels no restriction spiritually.
