Following several redesigns to accommodate a curving staircase, this major renovation project has provided the home’s epicurean occupants with a striking and practical kitchen that’s perfect for amateur but very enthusiastic chefs.
The clients ultimately opted for a two-island configuration: one dedicated to preparing food, and another used primarily as a service counter and a place to linger over lunch or a cup of coffee. The entire kitchen was given a bold treatment featuring contrasting warm and cool colours. At first glance, the warmth of the orange-tinted walnut may seem to work against the rather cold grey marble, but the stone also contains a copper-coloured vein that plays with the room’s metal accents. The mixture of colours and textures is at once showy and impeccable.
