The first floor of the Bibeau project has received a rejuvenation, but above all functionality! The kitchen and dining room, once oppressive and uninviting, have become luminous and unifying. The new configuration now allows a dozen people to occupy the space without feeling cramped. What made this tour de force possible was the decompartmentalization of the space, thanks to a structural beam. Adding a beam to compensate for the removal of a load-bearing wall remains a major investment that scares many customers, but in our view it was the key to maximizing the living area and thus bonusing the investment for customers. The new open-plan area now revolves around the island and its extension with the magnificent wood table. This welcoming new space is in perfect harmony thanks to custom furniture; everything needed for an efficient entrée (Bench seating, miscellaneous storage and hooks). The team also had to deal with the presence of the wall-mounted air conditioner, which couldn’t be moved. It now blends into the décor with the white sideboard judiciously positioned near the table. This element is practical and at the same time brings a touch of lightness to the integrated wooden furniture. Finally, the adjacent laundry room has not been left out! Still with the idea of decompartmentalizing to breathe, the team removed the doors that hid the washer/dryer. The addition of textured ceramics and adapted storage completes the wonderful space.
