GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 7th édition
The T House, created by the firm Natalie Dionne Architecte, stimulates the imagination with its contemporary design and green surroundings. The abundant fenestration and predominance of wood give this Eastern Township home a warm and convivial atmosphere. The open space extends over 1,800 square feet, built in three distinct parts arranged in the form of the letter ‘T’.
One part accommodates the living room, another, the children’s room and a third houses the kitchen with the master bedroom upstairs. The dining room acts as a central point and connects the outdoor areas including the wooden terrace, the mineral patio and the aquatic garden.
In order to create an easy flow between inside and out, natural materials were used for interior coverings to accentuate continuity; slabs of slats and polished concrete for the floor, fibre-cement, oak plywood and steel sidings, torrefied wood, etc.
Every room offers a beautiful sight commented the jury, mentioning the effort of integration inside/outside that provides a significant proximity to the natural surroundings. The symbiotic relationship between architecture and design created a harmonious and warm amalgam, and earned the creation the Residential Space Award 1,600 to 3,200 ft2.
