GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 15th edition

Discipline : Interior Design

Categories : Office / Agile work Environment : Gold Certification

Categories : Special Awards / Signage & Branding : Silver Certification

To reflect the boldness of its new brand identity developed by lg2, Ludia, a Montreal-based leader in the global mobile video game industry, entrusted the complete redesign of its Old Montreal offices to lg2 Architecture. The new identity came to life in the physical space through a thoughtful mix of architecture, interior design and graphic design. A creative playground for Ludia’s people, the new offices offer a space that reflects the company’s new image: vibrant, creative and confident.

As construction began a few weeks before the arrival of the pandemic, lg2 Architecture was able to pivot and take the project in another direction in response to the new reality of hybrid working. The revised concept incorporates adaptability and corporate culture, offering employees total flexibility at their workplace while ensuring they’d want to return to the office.

Nearly 50,000 sq. ft. on three floors have been transformed into a place that promotes creativity and exchange. Above all, the new work environment adapts to employees’ functional and human needs. The same space can serve different purposes at different times and for different groups. This maximum flexibility means modular collaborative lounges, customized spaces for different game teams, integrated furniture and rooms that cover the spectrum, from individual pods when focus is needed to large, more traditional conference rooms.

Ludia’s offices stand apart not only through a multifunctional layout that makes intelligent use of the entire square footage, but also through a totally unique experience that successfully brings the interior design and the new lg2-designed brand together.

Backlighting, a key element of the brand’s image, is expressed in the physical environment through an omnipresent interplay of light and shadow. This contrastive design element creates a rich atmosphere, where even the steel structures of the custom-made furniture and lighting fixtures – matched to the brand’s colour palette – play off the transparency of the glass and the opacity of the felt curtains to create a personalized, immersive atmosphere.

A bold new space to attract new talent and strengthen Ludians’ sense of belonging, who can now immerse themselves in a workplace environment that mirrors their creativity.
