The Louis Saint-Laurent School, built in 1959, has undertaken a major renovation to meet the evolving needs of students and staff. The expansion added five preschool classrooms, each animated by an accent color to facilitate orientation for toddlers. Furniture has been carefully designed to meet the requirements of teachers and students alike, with an emphasis on sustainable materials such as Russian cherry. The new facilities offer an abundance of natural light and encourage social interaction, fostering a cooperative learning environment. The main hall, now a focal point of the school, highlights the exposed wooden structure and offers playful spaces for students. The learning hub, at the heart of the project, harmoniously links the existing building to the new extension, offering a versatile and welcoming space for all age groups. Finally, clear, attractive signage makes it easier for students to find their way around the school, with Russian cherrywood flags echoing the aesthetics of the classrooms. The bright, welcoming main hall acts as a pivot between the existing and new parts of the school, with playful bleachers adding a touch of conviviality. The learning hub, the heart of the school, is designed for versatility and comfort, with an abundance of natural light and varied seating to encourage children’s imaginations. In addition, the addition of adapted changing rooms and a rooftop outdoor classroom enriches the educational experience, offering diverse and innovative spaces for learning and play.
