GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 16th edition

Discipline : Interior Design

Categories : Residence / Residential Tower & Condominium Project - Common Space : Bronze Certification

Proud of its first investment in Quebec, the real estate branch of the canadian company Great West Life has decided to acquire the prime location of the SNC Lavalin site. Located at the intersection of René-Lévesque Boulevard and de Bleury Street they developed their first project in Montréal, The Livmore Ville-Marie.

The projet is built on the site of the former Collège Sainte-Marie de Montréal (1848-1969), known as one of the city’s oldest school institutions. With the exception of the historic monument L’Église du Gesù formally annexed to the college, the area has been vacant since 1976.
The Livmore Ville-Marie project consists of a first podium of 7 floors, on which two towers of 28 and 38 additional floors are erected.
The mandate consisted of designing the typical units and developing the 15,000 square feet of common spaces. The amenities promote a balanced lifestyle reconciling work and leisure within the building itself.
Among others, it includes a lounge, a common kitchen, a wine cellar, a speakeasy, a coworking area, a gym and a large indoor pool.
ACT architecture design team had a blank card regarding the design and was inspired by the rich history of the site.
Thanks to a researched work in the photos and archives of the Jesuits of Montreal, the team developed a current and contemporary decor where the guideline was developed to pay tribute to the old building throughout the materiality and distinctive details of the time.
