Here is a renovation project carried out in Centre-du-Québec on the north shore of the St François River in Drummondville. We present to you the kitchen which is, in our opinion, the piece de resistance of this magnificent residence.
The kitchen has been completely remodeled in order to lighten the space, make it more convivial and functional while taking great care to retain certain original elements which provide warmth and character to the whole. This was the guideline that we established with the owners of the house.
The space is now organized in a more ergonomic and clearer way since the creation of a large island in the center of the room. A black granite counter is attached to it and literally fits into the superb existing wooden columns. The island becomes the heart of the kitchen just like the wooden structure that supports the house.
The beams, like all the existing wooden elements from the old Kingsey Falls bridge destroyed in the 1940s, have been preserved and are specially highlighted thanks to the introduction of modern materials in neutral tones. The famous quote “Less is more” takes on its full meaning here. The soft shades ranging from white silk to sisal beige blend perfectly with the warm tone of the woodwork. While the warmth of wood brings an undeniable character, the sobriety of avant-garde materials such as Fenix and Dekton countertops brings lightness and brightness to the whole. These cutting-edge materials and high-end cabinets from Miralis help enhance the assets of this space by allowing unparalleled durability and easy maintenance. Thus, the combination of new and old gives this kitchen its timelessness.
