Le sentier des jasettes

GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 15th edition
Discipline : Landscape & Territories
Categories : Landscape Architecture / Street Terrace / Parkland : Platinum Winner, Gold Certification
The XP_MTL creative team rose to the challenge presented by the borough of Ville-Marie, creating a green oasis on Sainte-Catherine Street in the heart of downtown Montreal. We drew inspiration from the paths in nature to design a spot to unwind in the urban environment. Flanked on both sides by flowers of all kinds, a winding path follows a wavelike pattern, creating spaces for relaxation and offering a natural respite in the downtown core.
The space is an island of freshness where visitors and residents of downtown Montreal can sit and rest before continuing their journey down Sainte-Catherine Street, contributing to a more positive urban experience. It was designed to harmonize with the architecture of St. Jax Church and provide continuity to its garden, a natural space where people can meet and chat (in French, jaser)—hence its name, Le sentier des jasettes. With its over one thousand diverse plants and vibrant and festive colours, this 100% made-in-Quebec installation will surprise you with its elegant design.
We wanted people to slow down, have a seat and enjoy a bite in an environment that respected all applicable health protocols. It was a rich experience and all summer long, visitors were able to enjoy the activities presented in the garden of St. Jax Church. XP_MTL also teamed up with MU to add a touch of colour to the ground of this unique walkway.
