The Owl
Beautiful trees, a clearing well protected from view. Le Hibou, this handsome, minimalist and discreet single-storey home, unfolds here following the stream.
Sensual, long and narrow, trimmed in brick and topped with a boldly angled roof, it has a timeless elegance, yet is resolutely modernist.
Invitingly central, a glass entrance. Transparent, it beckons you to approach…but reveals nothing of the intimacy of the premises.
It’s on the courtyard side that she becomes flamboyant!
Bathed in morning light, sinuous roofs and ubiquitous glass emphasize the long façade. The raised terrace, protected from the wind by the overhang of the living room, extends into paving on the ground to lead to the whirlpool, then to the sauna. Native plants stand side by side with grasses, creating a wild, unstructured effect. It’s a small spa in nature, desired from the outset by the owners, that becomes peaceful and healing.
Inside, there’s no getting around it: a central, well-lit axis. A white, uncluttered path that leads from the private spaces at the southern end to the gathering places on the north side.
Each room has its own layout.
Each room opens onto this unifying axis.
The living areas are vast and high, and leave plenty of room for light and the forest. The changing colors of the landscape illuminate the neutral, muted tones that dress the interior. Whites, grays, a touch of wood. A touch of golden yellow, a nod to autumn.
A place of sober beauty, a touch disheveled…
