Working with the Quebec City-based architecture firm ultralocal, Perron was given the mandate to initiate this necessary rethinking in what was to become a major change for this funeral cooperative located in the Beauport district of Quebec City.
To create an atmosphere conducive to quietude and contemplation, we focused the process first and foremost on the human experience. We made sure to bring back all the nobility this gathering place deserves through the use of real, natural materials.
On the upper floor, it was important to create an atmosphere that complemented and differed from the rest of the funeral home, in keeping with the emotional curve of the ritual proposed by the funeral cooperative.
The first floor features natural light, interior gardens and natural textures, while the upper floor has a more subdued atmosphere conducive to conversation. Out of respect for the nature of the activities that take place there, the space stands out for its overall softness and attention to detail.
