GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 15th edition
Discipline : Art & Photography
Categories : Art Projects / Visual art
In 2022, the Centre national d'entrainement Pierre-Harvey (CNEPH), in partnership with Galerie d'art Beauchamp, presents this year the work of Marjorie Roy. The CNEPH combines art and sports performance. Over a period of 6 years, a work of art will be created by the great names in Quebec art scene. This initiative aims to finance the Pierre Harvey training program. In the work presented for the second year, the artist is inspired by the force of nature and human. Representing determination, team spirit, competition and the Olympic journey, the pursuit is a recognition of the tenacity of Alex Harvey, holder of five world medals, as well as the athletes present at the 2022 Olympic Games: Antoine Cyr, Olivier Léveiller, Cendrine Browne, Laura Leclair and Jules Burnotte. Mont Saint-Anne is also among the actors of the creation, linking both the artist and his love for nature as well as the athletes who train there. The impressive shape of the mountain also suggests the parallel with the strength of Olympic athletes. The choice of HD sublimation medium provides a luminosity that recalls the reflection of the sun on the snow. The cold colors represent both the winter season and the anticipation of competition. The warm colors represent the ardor of the athletes. The gathering of strong symbols and our Olympic team training at the MSA is presented as a successful art piece that combines art and sport.
