This very beautiful residence with classical architecture had a main entrance in front of it that didn\’t look too good. Our mandate was to find a way to make the front part of this property more beautiful, more functional and more welcoming while remaining in harmony with the style of the house. For us, this had to be as much for the pedestrian walkway as for the entirety of this lot found on a street corner in a historic neighborhood of a suburban municipality.
For the walkway that leads to the threshold of the main entrance door, we chose grey and sawn Saint-Marc limestone; a material to be worked with care and, above all, a very resistant material that will stand the test of time by retaining its intrinsic qualities and its sober beauty. Given the slight slope of the land, we had to take this into consideration and we went with the installation of three large landings to make the circulation as comfortable and safe as possible, considering the different types of seasonal weather conditions known in our latitudes. And, it is important to point out, the maintenance of this corridor is made even easier, this being.
For the entire rest of the grounds, we wanted to create a vegetal tableau in different shades of green. Create a three-dimensional landscape work made with small clumps and linear axes that give relief and texture to this front garden. To achieve this, we used plants such as boxwood (buxus), yew (taxus), cedar (thuja) and Golden Elf spirea to keep it beautiful and visible all year round. And, as a small elegant touch, ferns were put in large black pots installed on either side of the door to frame it well, remaining nicely in the tones.
In the flowerbeds, there is a mix of perennials and annuals wanted to promote continuous flowering from spring to fall and, thus, complete the picture. The presence of flowers, in addition to pleasing people, also pleases the birds and butterflies that they naturally attract. This is another thing that must be taken into consideration when it comes to ecological and psychological balance. Because, it is a fact, this presence of birds and butterflies give also beautiful and good atmosphere to the decor and that it plays positively on the mood of people.
At the same time simple and chic, this landscaping of very good taste not only knew how to give satisfaction to the owners of the house but also to all the people who frequent this environment in the daily life or who are simply passing by and who appreciate its beauty. It is always very pleasant and interesting for the owners to be told this. And it is just as much for the designers and builders of this project in the image of their clients.
Welcome to the White House.
