Following the concept of “Jade from Shuangxi Lake”, the building is envisioned as a raw jade with unique craftsmanship. It also draws inspiration from “silk”, reflecting the urban culture of Jiaxing as a “Silk City”. The intertwined volumes resemble Möbius strips and two hands holding together, representing the spirit of challenge and teamwork in sports. The building’s smooth and undulating form harmonizes with the river’s direction, connecting the urban space seamlessly. The terraced building creates a dynamic urban balcony, maximizing the utilization of natural landscape resources in the north.
The competition hall is designed to be a versatile venue that can host national-level badminton and basketball competitions. It can be easily converted into 16 badminton courts and 3 basketball courts, or used for corporate annual meetings, exhibitions, concerts, and other events, showcasing its multi-functionality. The design features two distinctive spaces: the “Suspended Pool” with a high-strength transparent pool body that seamlessly integrates with the outdoor environment, and the “Championship Pathway” which spans about 520 meters to indicate the meaning of “I love sports”. The pathway incorporates various elements such as spiritual fortresses, outdoor seatings, and facade projections to create an engaging public space leading to the rooftop. Additionally, the project will introduce indoor skiing, AR sports, Pilates, sky court, hip-hop, and other popular sports activities.
Different from existing local sports venues with single functions, the Jiaxing Fashion Sports Center offers a variety of sports options and multiple daily functions, setting a new trend in the city’s sports culture development and becoming a prominent new landmark of sport and popular culture.
