With a concern for the conservation of existing ecosystems, the wooden cultural pathway of the Richmond Garden in Pierrefonds-Roxboro fits into the landscape with a minimal impact on the ground. The wooden structure which makes the footbridge, is installed on screwed piles in order to reduce the excavations of the ground endowed with a rather rich landscape heritage. Thus, the path highlights the existing planting and allows the user to discover this space without any impact on the sustainability of the project.
The landscaping enhances the existing site with over 500 new shrubs and up to 375 new perennials/grasses to make this project an ornate showcase for the Pierrefonds-Roxboro Library and City Hall.
Indirect lighting is installed below the walkway to highlight the landscape at night and to draw in the curve that outlines the large library at the back.
The project also aims to slightly rework the land in problematic areas to solve drainage and water accumulation problems and thus provide natural irrigation to the existing vegetation. At the entrance to the project, a custom folded steel signage panel serves as a historical overview of the site as well as the sustainable strategies employed in the project.
