The Institute for Research in Dermatology and Aesthetics of Canada (IRDEC) is the first institute of its kind in the country in terms of care and research being 100% dedicated to the largest organ of the human body, the SKIN!
We provided assistance to IRDEC in their search for space by drawing up the pre-leasing layouts. The process took several months, and when an office space was leased at 8000 Décarie Blvd., we had to move quickly to avoid further delay. To this end, we recommended that IRDEC retain the services of a general contractor and manage the project themselves. In addition to our standard design process, we also advised and guided the client with the signage required for the space. A must for any clinic.
IRDEC had just put together a beautiful brand image, so we used it as a source of inspiration. The color palette featured soft beiges and pinks. The client also wanted a touch of metallic pink-gold. Our concept of organic design is built around the main guideline, the skin, but in an abstract way. Skin makes us think of layers, superimpositions and transitions. It also means playing with scales, micro and macro. Do you see the graphic pattern applied to the walls and windows? This is what our skin looks like when viewed through a microscope! In the clinical environment, textures are finer like sand, and colors are soothing. In the staff areas, textures, such as felt and rock aggregates, are more visible, and colors are more vibrant and energizing.
