Ici a été fondée Montréal
GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 12th edition
Years of digging under Montreal’s ground culminated in Ici a été fondé Montréal, the new permanent exhibit at the Pointe-à-Callière museum, located right above the digging grounds of the city’s remnants.
Designed by Daily tous les jours, who worked on it for two years, in close collaboration with architects Dan Hanganu and Michel Dallaire, archeologists and museum staff, the exhibit invites museum-goers to discover the city’s founding stories, through a mystical and emotional exploration. The creative team was successful in imagi-ning a concept that would captivate visitors while ren-dering the city’s ruins and artefacts accessible and visible. The glass floors are very effective in allowing traces of the past to be seen and experienced. The exhibit includes miniature reconstructive set-ups, movie clips and exclusive interactive installations, through which the uncertain adventure of founding men and women is ours to discover.
The jury was impressed by the design execution, in perfect symbiosis with the historic space and as a timeless showcase of Montreal’s founding historical remains.
