Hôtel La Ferme
GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 7th édition
Located at the heart of Baie-Saint-Paul, a heritage town, Hôtel La Ferme displays a symbolic inspired by the old farm of Quebec. The omnipresence of wood, exposed beams or even the modernized claw foot tub transport travelers into an imaginary world immersed in terroir, while providing the comfort of a contemporary environment. The hotel features pavilions of different themes from yesteryear such as La Basse-Cour, Le Chemin de Fer, La Bergerie, Le Moulin or Le Clocher de Couvent.
Les Dortoirs de la Gare are a modern twist on the traditional youth hostel; Le Clos, configured in a square adjacent to an inner courtyard resembles a cloister; or La Berge, a linear building, refers to the long shores of the Saint Lawrence River.
Curtains, carpets, bedding and cabinets are all local finds. The consortium LEMAYMICHAUD – St-Gelais Montminy architectes – Hudon Julien associés fulfilled its mandate to represent local history and culture by featuring artisans of the region. The venue thus has becomes a flagship for the art trades of Quebec, and a true example of heritage integration in contemporary architecture and design. The jury did not miss the opportunity to highlight these qualities by giving the project the Hotel Award.
