Hôpital vétérinaire du Parc
GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 12th edition
An abandoned photo studio is transformed into the new du Parc Veterinary Hospital, hosting both a SPCA clinic and a cutting edge hospital. The splendid, futuristiclooking project was designed by T B A | Thomas Balaban Architecte and Jean-Marc Renaud.
The utility materials showcased remind us of MileEnd’s industrial character while catering to the specific needs of the animal hospital. The clinic and its basement are lit up by a minimalist and calming colour palette, juxtaposed with exposed raw surfaces and a generous system of glass divisions. Animals and their human caregivers are free to roam around the bright reception area and spacious waiting room, furnished with casual Corian furniture pieces. The stone foundation and concrete panelled walls serve to preserve the bottom part of the walls from the wear and tear of animals, while adding a modern touch to the space. The polycarbonate diaphane ceiling hides a complex mechanical system while unveiling a most appropriate graphic lighting.
The jury was impressed by the originality of the project and the mastery in lighting, the successful marriage of colours and textures and the futuristic combination of old and new.
