The space selected by the contractor was atypical, cramped and irregular; the design team achieved a real tour de force by proposing a dynamic, compact and efficient layout. Located at street level, the commercial suite had a strong potential for appeal, due to the natural light offered, but also in consideration of the visibility of the Manovra Group operations. The kitchen and the executive room, with their large windows, are successively staged as showrooms, in the image of the constructive and rigorous work of this contractor. The work spaces, on the other hand, occupy the backlit spaces, farther from view, for the sake of confidentiality of operations.
The library, the scenic curtain and the display of promotional merchandise act as a filter between the office operations and the urban traffic of the street. At night, the space acts more like a lantern, expressing with rigor a lighting grid independent of the programmatic layout, which is drawn with flexibility by the use of curves in plan.
A technical volume inhabits the center. Its edges are rounded and the hollow tooth accesses carry the firm's identity color. Dressed in stainless steel, the volume articulates the circulation, reflects the natural light in the second day spaces and the accuracy of the execution speaks then of the values of the company having its seat there.
This true teamwork as well as the enhancement of the conceptual approach is without a doubt a reflection of the values of the Manovra Group, which has a respectful and sympathetic view of the design professions. For Blanchette Architects, the project was an opportunity to create a strong and surprising narrative, using simple materials such as black steel, stainless steel, light and polished concrete.
