FRENCH VELOURS
Located on the banks of the historic Canal Lachine, « French Velours » embodies a harmonious fusion of traditional Parisian aesthetics and the modern context of a Montreal penthouse, putting forward an aesthetic that seduces with its sensory refinement. Each piece is a tribute to the senses, with velvety surfaces and meticulously selected finishes that invite both contemplation and contact. The result of these soothing, hushed selections is an exceptional penthouse in an exclusive setting.
The fruit of a collaborative process, the project began in 2019 under the signature of architect Diego Burdi of Burdifilek. It was taken over by Chrome Design to meet the owners&rsqu;new family needs, and completed in September 2022. At the design stage, for a brief moment, French architect Isabelle Stanislas came in to suggest interventions to reinforce the Parisian spirit.

From the entrance, vast bay windows flood the space with natural light. The fusion of three condo spaces offers a breathtaking 180-degree panoramic view and overwhelms us with the exceptionality of the premises. The open-plan living spaces are cleverly divided; the transparent divisions allow a fluid transition into the immensity of the program, dividing spaces without compromising the splendor of the historic panorama.

As soon as you enter the penthouse, the living room catches your eye with the bold, opulent ochre-colored velvet sofa. The particular curves of the design intrigue, contribute to refinement and invite with their voluptuousness. The ultimate luxury of this residence is a spacious kitchen where all ultra-modern conveniences are at the service of chefs. It features a 6.7-metre wall of oak cabinetry, an impressive 4-metre Barrocco quartzite island countertop, not to mention a banquette area (seating up to 14 guests) curved by an elegant semi-opaque shelving unit, providing an exceptional visual setting for meals. On the formal dining room side, the table made from a 4 m piece serves as a pedestal for the magnificent floating chandelier by Quasar.

As for the master suite, the selection of textures has been carefully chosen to create a soothing atmosphere, the walls sport wallpaper evoking the texture of suede and a custom-made fluted bed in lilac-pink velvet. Subtle lighting, diffused by Bocci suspension fixtures in raw porcelain, envelops the room in an enveloping tactile and visual experience. The storage space, defined by Poliform modules, creates a fluid transition between the sleeping area and the adjacent bathroom, the latter clad in frosted Nordic White natural stone.

To conclude, a magnificent spiral staircase leads up to an immense 200m2 terrace featuring a 6.5-metre private pool, offering a 360-degree view of downtown and the Montérégie. Equipped with every amenity (4m kitchen, dining room for up to 16 guests, lounge and children’s play area), this oasis becomes an exceptional setting for outdoor relaxation and entertainment. With its singularity, this outdoor space accentuates the distinction of French Velours and makes it an exceptional urban project.
