Aging is an issue for everyone; it is also an inevitable trend in a modern society marked by medical advances and declining fertility rates. As a growing group, the elderly will have an increasing say in their demands for urban space and public life.
The project is located in the town of Shiwan. This community center covers more than 1500 square meters and will include many functional areas, such as a traditional Chinese medicine clinic, a nursing station, an assessment room for the elderly, a research center for the optimization of old-age pensions and an exhibition hall, as well as a kitchen and a canteen for the elderly. It also provides all the necessary facilities for comprehensive care: day care, door-to-door services, rehabilitation nursing, health care, emergency assistance and a number of ancillary services.
Foshan prefecture city has more than 17.6% of elderly people. According to international standards, Foshan is now part of the aging society. The designer wanted to configure this living and care space for the elderly by taking into account the human sciences and physiology, while honoring the secular memory of Foshan. It is with this concern for preserving fragments of the collective memory that we thought we would succeed in developing a project where the services and care offered would reach a real level of humanity. We have spared no effort to create a warm family atmosphere to accompany the elderly in their resistance to the trials of time. We have taken the opportunity to combine this infrastructure with an intelligent retirement system and have taken into account the aging of the equipment to provide more comprehensive and reliable technical support for the elderly.
At the same time, this type of environment can also ensure the safety of the elderly and improve their physiological level. In the specifications, the designer combined the built space with the dynamic juxtaposition of the surrounding environment, taking into account a flexible use of space, while reducing unnecessary partitions, using warm colors in order to replace the feeling of loss of physical and psychological faculties that can strike the elderly with a better quality of life.
