Cégep Beauce-Appalaches\’ new campus of Sainte-Marie is part of the meaningful approach to offer students of the new generations a healthy and motivating learning environment.
The architects Odette Roy and Isabelle Jaques therefore called on Bélanger to create the school\’s signage, assured of a relevant, adapted result reflecting the conceptual intention, thanks to the firm\’s exhaustive experience in terms of spatial orientation in a place of education such as this.
Thus was born a signage family with clean shapes echoing the building\’s architectural lines. The orientation elements\’ simplicity does not diminish their originality of form, which is inspired by the Cégep\’s identity universe and dress with a unique appearance, playing with volume, space and color.
Beyond these design challenges related to the integration of signage into the place that houses it, becoming one with it, there are others also very specific to wayfinding systems. One of them, and not the least in an environment subject to the ardor of youth, is the objects\’ durability, which must resist it. Another, just as crucial, is to foster an intuitive orientation in a place that is home to so many different users: students, professors, public (during events, visits and presentations), employees; of all ages, and of all backgrounds.
These design criteria, among others so familiar to Bélanger, were brilliantly applied and there is now an integrated signage system on the premises of Cégep Beauce-Appalaches\’ new campus of Sainte-Marie, much appreciated by its occupants.
