The new owner of the Donald Proulx hair salon in Montreal wanted to create a new brand image, optimize customer reception and the product sales area. We worked on an open, airy, mono-colored space, close to concrete. The Donald Proulx space is divided into 5 areas: sales area, consultation area, reception area, café and waiting area.
We worked on simple volumes and effects of materials and relief with mdf panels, screened ceramics, cement ceramics and leather seams.
The original space was partitioned, there was no real perspective. The dominant colors were brown, beige, and off-white. We featured soft grey. We defined with the counters an open space, where the lights create a linearity between the coffee counters, reception, consultation and the sales area. We wanted to make the hair products stand out, with a white and gray base where the colors of the products pop.
