Dior Boston
The Dior store in Copley Place Mall, Boston is a 6,380 foot flagship. SAJO was hired by Dior to handle all interior retail construction on this project, including the electrical, mechanical and plumbing as well as the demolition of the existing 2nd floor space. SAJO coordinated all tradespeople and installation during the project and was responsible for the structural reinforcement of the large storefront. Anything missing from the original drawings had to be re-designed on site.
As this flagship was located on the 2nd floor of the mall, structural studs had to be installed to ensure safety standards were met. Wood flooring was installed throughout the store and carpeting was used to delineate one area from another in the Dior flagship. Recessed lighting was installed in the ceilings throughout each section of the store providing a dramatic canopy in which to showcase the clothing and accessories.
Metal rods were used to display clothing. Some rods grew up from the floor, others hung from the ceiling. This allowed clothing to be displayed at different heights throughout the store. Walls were treated in a variety of finishes mostly incorporating different plaster textures –silver and white striated, bas relief, mother of pearl and concrete washes. Wall displays feature floating shelving and were used to exhibit shoes and bags while jewelry display cases were completely enclosed. All of this made for a truly elegant backdrop for elegant clothing and accessories.
