Abandoned for 9 years, Corby building 1201 sherbrooke west is classified in the top 10 most historical building in montreal. When heritage there are not many elements that are able to change but only to be restored. We tried to integrate these modern elements by keeping those historical elements present. example the office wall, those moldings were all reproduced to existing and we modernized them by adding glass, while keeping the existing doors and creating a floating molding feeling. The Railing, was modernized by adding glass in front with pin floor lighting. Our Play on modern lighting to break from the old, we knew that the old was there to stay, our goal was to marry old and new together with still respecting all aspects of heritage. Working in a historical building is not always the easiest and creativity came to play on all fronts.
