The Roots of the Cabana Collection
Transitory furniture came into being a few years ago and is a trend that continues to grow in popularity. Cities rightly want to furnish friendly, dynamic, and attractive spaces, encouraging citizens and visitors to enjoy urban life. Some towns have found that furnishing meeting places has had a positive effect on the local economy, adding social and cultural vitality.
The problem was that the furniture was often discarded at the end of the season or event because municipalities lacked storage space for it. Morelli saw a need and filled it. As a forward-looking company and a responsible citizen, we sought a sustainable and innovative solution that would reduce waste and the ecological footprint.
From temporary to permanent furniture: A Collection in Three Models
Morelli cares about the environment. And we believe in a long-term approach to product development, even within projects considered to be temporary. We asked ourselves this question: What about changing the temporary into permanent furniture? That was 2020 and, ever since, our catalog has contained collections of modular furniture: the Morelli PLATFORM, HAMMOCK LITTLE HOUSE, and others. The objective of the project? To propose transitional furniture that can be transformed into permanent furniture after an event or a season to give it a second life.
Then came the CABANA COLLECTION in three models: the Ephemeral – transitory furnishing for pedestrian streets – and Get Together and Wework, designed for collaborative work spaces, also on the street.
The Cabana Collection presents inclusive urban and commercial furniture solutions, adapted for pedestrianised streets and collaborative spaces, whether for professional or educational contexts. The furnishings encourage human interaction and productivity with atmospheres conducive to meeting and sharing. The design accommodates people with reduced mobility.
Cabana furniture sets up easily and perfectly in parks and urban settings, alongside sidewalks and parking areas, on building terraces, at the water’s edge, or on observation decks.

With this collection, Morelli gives relevance to action in the sustainable development of new products, with particular emphasis on more thoughtful temporary installations and a view to sustainability.
Morelli applies creativity to making a positive impact on society and people’s well-being. With an ecological vision, we believe our designs will evolve, offering a second life to products by transforming their purpose.
Flexible and Versatile
The Cabana Collection comes in a multitude of configurations in order to maximize seating in a minimum of space, as well as to suit the context of usage. For instance, Cabana can be easily leveled to maximize curb access or adjust to different ground levels when installed directly on the street. It can also be installed permanently.
Short on Storage Space? We Have the Solution.
Cabana furniture can be disassembled to reduce the amount of storage space required and make it easier to transport. No storage space at all? No worries. Morelli has a business model for municipalities and event organizers to rent a place to house the furniture. Furthermore, we have an eco-responsible acquisition strategy that allows cities to buy furnishings needed for an event, then give it a second life by installing it in a park or playground on a permanent basis.
A New Way to Work Collaboratively – Outdoors!
The CABANA GET TOGETHER and WEWORK modules come in numerous CABANA configurations, suitable for stimulating cooperative installations on rooftop terraces, courtyards, school yards, pedestrian streets, or other types of outdoor urban areas. Pleasant interactions, friendly collaborations…in the shade!
