CIMET Group Headquarters occupy the 2 topmost levels plus roof garden of the Torre Glorieta Cibeles, located in the Roma neighborhood one of the most emblematic and historic areas of Mexico City with an eclectic mix of architecture.
CIMET Group is a family led consortium dedicated to architecture, construction and real estate development. The design of the space considers the necessity of these diverse activities, departments and their relationship striving to create harmonious, comfortable spaces where all members can feel inspired to create, solve, perform and unfold best, as individuals and as team.
Mexico is characterized as one of the longest work-hour places in the world, so the first objec-tive was to make everyone feel at home since they spend more time at the office than at their actual home. To achieve this, a combination of specific light, materials and distribution were employed.
The connection to the exterior is given special emphasis due to the spectacular views available on all sides of the floorplate, framing them and relying heavily on natural light throughout the day, having 360° access to the exterior. Artificial lighting is thoughtfully designed to be effective as well as ornamental enhancing the quality of all spaces.
We chose to employ a rich sober palette of materials reminiscent of nature settings, mixing them on different elements. Grigio marble was used to wrap the sculptural staircase that con-nects all 3 levels that together with a decorative pattern multi-perforated stainless steel screen evoque a waterfall that tie up all three levels; the warm brown tones of high grain walnut wood, the rich heavy grained granite, black glass laminates, contrasting with a polished concrete in-dustrial looking floor, provided a sense of stimulation, combining with art from Ruben Cimet to provide a desired sense of elegance and sophistication.
In terms of spatiality, the project strived to create a hybrid that balances and accommodates all desired qualities of the trending flexible open workspace together with the very much needed quiet and concentrated private space, as well as the public social and leisure spaces.
To such effect the working space at the main floor is divided into 3: a public wing with the re-ception, different sized meeting rooms; a central general wing, with clusters of semiprivate workstations; and a “private” wing, with partner’s offices that also double as collaborative and meeting spaces. Finally, at the top of the staircase, a surprisingly unimaginable rooftop consist-ing of a large central lounge with sliding glass doors surrounded by an oasis of native beautiful vegetation, representing over a third of the plot space, creates a pleasant microclimate coupled with an enviable uninterrupted view.
Sustainability is a core principle of the design process; all lighting and shading are controlled by a Lutron smart system with occupancy and daylight censoring, calculating the most effective artificial light and AC configuration and generating important savings.
CIMET Group Headquarters demonstrate that office spaces are fundamental to the functioning of companies, that unique and innovative spaces have significant impact in the performance and output as well as of the life quality of humans behind them and for whom they themselves work for.
