Visual identity of the “75th anniversary of Canada-Italy diplomatic relations” 1947- 2022
Visual identity is an important tool to convey a message and unify the multiple forms of communication.
Commissioned by the Government of Canada, the graphic identity for the “75th Anniversary of Canada-Italy Diplomatic Relations” had to be recognizable but always be different so as not to overshadow the official Canada logo.
It also had to be recognized and used interchangeably by both governments to identify
their respective events, namely the Canadian Embassy in Rome and its Italian alter ego, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It had to represent in a graphic way the harmony of bilateral exchanges, the positive encounter, the friendly, flourishing and fruitful relations between the two countries.

Rather than a logo, Ginette Caron has developed a communication system.
The visual representation of the concept derives from the relationship between the graphic characteristics common to the 2 flags, namely their resemblance in terms of geometric shapes and colors.
The symbols emerge from an encounter within a generative common identity.
Symbols emerge from a fusion between the two flags.
The graphic elements, broken down and recomposed ad infinitum, thus create a generative identity system that is always different thus always relevant.
Concise message / minimalist graphic expression / no predominance of identity of one country to the detriment of the other.
The graphic elements will create a visual context (the system) which will be applied to all communication and merchandising elements.
Accomplice was an inspiration to the thought of Lao Tseu:
“It is the void that gives reason to things”.
A vase is made of clay
but it’s the void created inside
which makes it suitable for its use.
