Bureau à la maison – Liège
By : Jessica Locas Design Inc.
GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 14th edition
Discipline : Interior Design
Categories : Residence / Home Office : Silver Certification
For the Liège street project, Jessica Locas design wanted to maximize the space above
the stairs by creating a home office.
The designer chose to close the room with a wall-to-wall glass partition which enables
the right separation without loosing the lighting offered by the large fenestration. The
transparent side of this partition however represents a challenge when it comes to
storage and organization. It’s for this reason that the office design has been custom-
made, just to make sure that it would fit perfectly the space. The furniture stands on legs
instead of being massive, always keeping in mind both lightness and brightness.
The layout was planned in a manner that delimits clearly the areas according to each
moment’s needs. The main desk is placed in a way that stimulates creativity and
concentration. A smaller desk is available for tiny visitors. A bench offers the possibility
work or rest at the same time.
Here, Jessica Locas design chose to use an electrical system for the desk standing on
one leg, enabling the user to adjust the height, and thus standing to work. Storage boxes
were used to hide the desk’s motorization and to avoid disturbing the whole visual
concept.
It is important to mention that the custom-made furniture was made by Groupe Lacasse.
They used GreenGard certified Unibord Nurgreen melamine.
