The mandate was to redesign the offices of the Association québécoise de la production médiatique (AQPM) within a defined budget without compromising the desired visual impact. The AQPM, dedicated to supporting, advising and representing Quebec’s independent film, television and web production companies, called on Folio Design to design a space that would encourage discussion, and be gentle and serene. Inspired by the AQPM’s television and film universe, the Folio Design team revisited the visual iconography associated with the world of cinema in an abstract and schematic way. The luminous exterior marquee typical of cinemas of yesteryear is now imbued with a minimalist, modern design. The Association’s logo, representing the lens of a camera, with its roundness and flexibility, inspired the design of the woodwork elements, recalling the company’s universe and mission. User flow, unobstructed views, access to natural light and the creation of a warm atmosphere were at the heart of the team’s reflections and decisions. The project’s success lies in its strong visual impact and the judicious reuse of existing elements, all within a budget equivalent to $75 per square foot.
