On a hillside surrounded by plenty of nature and close to the city centre, in a heterogeneous urban environment, a lively individual residential architecture is developing.
The soft organic design and the precise arrangement of architectural elements create a powerful plasticity. The focus is on living above the rooftops of the city. The room-high glazing, the large terrace, the daylight and the distant view create intensive, emotional room moods and a high quality of stay.
The client‘s wish was to live above the rooftops of the city. It was intended to be an open living concept, offering opportunities for privacy at the same time. The entrance, the wardrobe, sleeping area with dressing room and bathroom as well as children‘s room are located on the ground floor. The individual areas can be separated from each other by sliding doors. The shape of the curved building shell can be experienced at any point inside the building. The filigree staircase made of metal provides access to the living area upstairs. The steps are formed as cantilever elements in a fold design. The minimised steel structure appears light and elegant. The living area with its large roof terrace on the upper floor forms the centre of life, situated on the highest point of the hill with a beautiful view over the city and on the
horizon. The interior is flooded with natural light. The well-defined roof overhangs prevent overheating in the summer. The powerful geometry spatially unites the terrace and the interior. Heating and cooling is provided by geothermal energy. Thermal comfort is achieved by using capillary tube mats installed in the floor and ceiling. The operating costs are reduced by natural lighting and ventilation. Power is generated via a photovoltaic system on the roof. The building was designed with sustainability in mind. Building materials were selected according to their meaning. Due to the economic efficiency, the reduced construction time and ecological aspects, the building was realised as a prefabricated modern wood-frame construction. The minimized slope floor is made of concrete and accommodates the technical room.
