Alexander McQueen Hawaii
SAJO was retained by Alexander McQueen as general contractor to manage the construction of a flagship store in the Ala Moana Shopping Centre of Honolulu, Hawaii. This 1900 square foot boutique is the brand’s eighth retail store in the United States and was built over a narrow timeline of fourteen weeks.
SAJO’s expertise in procurement and logistical solutions was called into play during this project. Some panels arrived from the mainland damaged and had to be replaced. SAJO came up with alternative solutions and sourced local craftspeople capable of delivering an alternative.
A cable system was used to hang floating circular glass display units in the storefront window. These cables were attached inside the ceiling via a steel structure and ran from ceiling to floor, suspending the shelving at various heights. The interior walls of the store were panelled in wood. Clothing is displayed from wall-attached wooden bars throughout the store with the same system being used to exhibit scarves. Round, floor standing display cases are used throughout with the top 2 or 3 shelves made to look as if they are floating.
The international lure of the British fashion house, Alexander McQueen, continues!
