GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 12th edition
Mature nature, material texture and a wise use of various planes of altitude are the first impressions left by the CSN’s headquarters’ new landscape design, in the East of the city.
Projet Paysage achieves the complex challenge of doubling the existing exterior surface and turning it into a green haven for Montreal employees to gather in and enjoy. The design aims to create an agora that celebrates the organization’s 100th anniversary and enhances the employee experience. Comfortable, welcoming, safe and sustainable, the agora meets the outdoors via an atrium. On the garden side, many elements complete each other and offer an array of experiences, ranging from grassy hills to monumental staircase, contemplation areas, a community garden and other service zones.
The jury rewarded the precision of the landscape design, in harmony with the warmth of the architecture, as well as the appropriate choice of plants to break the linearity.
